Uber Lilith is the ultimate boss of Diablo 4 endgame, and fighting her is a test of your skills and build. But you can always build parts of Uber Lilith alone using a very specialized build and skip a lot of her mechanics.
Here I will share with you the mechanics of how to dodge her in Diablo 4 Season 2. These methods can also help you practice combat more effectively if you use other one-off builds or play as different classes.
Whether you’re an experienced player or new to the world of Sanctuary, this guide will help you prepare for the upcoming season.
Gear Minimum Requirements
Let me start by emphasizing how important it is to get the double movement speed stat during Uber Lilith’s battle. Being able to run to certain locations or escape the one-hit mechanic is a tremendous help for us. Therefore, I suggest you can buy Diablo 4 gold to invest in skills such as Teleport and Flame Shield to improve overall statistics.
Phase 1 Waves
In Phase 1, it will restrict us to a circle. If we step outside the circle, we will die, so we need to hide from everything inside the circle.
The most dangerous mechanism in Phase 1 is waves. As long as we touch it, it will kill us in one blow. Wave has a slightly larger hitbox on the front. It can hit us easily, so it is very necessary to buy Diablo 4 items like shields and health potions before starting the battle.
The most common Waves mode in Phase 1 is the 4 Waves spawn. Two of the people move towards the character with some distance between them. There are two other waves next to it. The two side waves can be in the same direction as the middle wave, or they can be in opposite directions.
There are several ways to get around it. The simplest one is to use Flame Shield. After casting Flame Shield, we need to move towards the wave. But it lasts only 2 seconds, which is not enough for us to have two consecutive waves of tanks in the middle. If we stand there or move toward the wave, we are likely to be hit by a second wave.
The second avoidance method is to use Teleport to go behind the second wave in the middle and stand there to be safe. Try to avoid walking to the sides as side waves can move in the opposite direction and hit us.
There is a third way. What I recommend doing is to use an Evade in the opposite direction of the wave and run to the back of the second wave. As mentioned before, we need to improve two movement statistics to do this. But a second wave may occur outside the circle. And if you don’t use Flame Shield, it will be very difficult to avoid all this.
To sum up, in order to avoid waves, we made two key preparations. Start by standing on the edge of the circle and then look outside the circle. Then we can easily avoid waves.
Waves Node
But how do we know when waves are going to happen so we can be prepared? Let’s inspect when Lilith takes to the sky and creates waves.
Phase 1 – Stage 1 Above 70% HP
When Lilith’s health is above 70%, she will stay on the ground most of the time and perform some Sweep Attacks. She sometimes summons Volatile Blood. You need to make sure you destroy them within 10 seconds or it will explode and hit us.
Check her HP as she flies into the sky. If her health is above 70%, we need to be ready for Wave, and I recommend using Evade to dodge. If her health drops below 70%, she will land in the center, summon two minions, and fly into the sky again.
Phase 1 – Stage 2 Minions
In Stage 2, Lilith will summon 2 minions. She will perform Waves mode until both minions are defeated. I recommend using Frost Nova, casting a Chain Lightning and immediately stopping the attack. Then go to the edge of the circle and use Teleport to get behind the second wave and start attacking the minions again.
First, Frost Nova stops two minions from throwing hooks. Next, I cast a Chain Lightning as it helps knock them down in the second wave. Third, I need to stop attacking them immediately because I need to elicit the location and direction of the wave. After teleporting, we can safely attack the minions and harvest a large amount of Diablo 4 Gold.
Phase 1 – Stage 3 Above 40% HP
At Stage 3, Uber Lilith will do the same thing as Stage 1, but switch between mechanisms faster. For example, she will fly into the sky and release waves more frequently.
I recommend you stand between her and the circle when attacking Uber Lilith. When she does a wide front wave, we can duck right into her without worrying about getting out of the circle. Also, we can always use teleport and Flame Shield, since we rarely need them at this stage.
For damage, I recommend keeping her health above 40% before stunning her. Then stagger her and use your ultimate if necessary to finish her off and skip the ultimate phase of Phase 1.
Phase 1 – Stage 4 Minions
When Lilith’s HP drops below approximately 40%. She will fly into the sky and land in the center. And summons 3 minions to fly into the sky again. She will then land in the center of a black circle and summon 3 triangular waves. She will repeat this until all 3 minions are defeated.
3 minions at this stage are less of a threat than 2 minions because they can’t hook or Crowd Control us. I recommend using Frost Nova and Flame Shield to eliminate them, and evade with Evade or Teleport. We can then bring her HP down to 0 at our own pace with a tiny Diablo 4 Gold budget.
Phase 2 Blood Puddles
Now let’s move onto Phase 2. Phase 2 has 3 key mechanisms.
The first one is Blood Puddles. It has a large range and deals with heavy damage when spawned. It will spawn Skull, which will chase us during certain stages. Whenever we touch a Skull, we die instantly.
But when Blood Puddles are about to spawn, if it is close to another one, it will replace the other one. This way we don’t have to worry about more Blood Puddles on the battlefield. As long as we position ourselves at nearby Blood Puddles, when new Blood Puddles are about to spawn. But don’t get too close, as it will cause lasting damage that could lead to our death.
Next, every time an Uber Lilith crosses over, a Blood Puddles or two disappear. If we can stagger Uber Lilith multiple times in Phase 2, we’ll have far fewer Blood Puddles to worry about later on.
Phase 2 Scream & Cleaves
The second key mechanic is Scream and Cleaves. Whenever we see Uber Lilith’s Scream, we immediately need to run in a big circle. What I recommend doing is to use Teleport or Flame Shield immediately after she cleaves once, and keep running in circles.
Each Cleaves will cause damage to a little earlier than the black line animation. So we need to change the direction we are walking constantly.
Lilith will perform 3 Cleaves, followed by a large single-shot AOE. Make sure to stay away from her until Blood Puddles appears.
Phase 2 Platform Drop
The third key mechanic of Phase 2 is Platform Drop. Whenever we lowered her health below approximately 80%, 60%, and 40%, Uber Lilith would jump into the sky and fly toward the platform that was about to be destroyed.
Meanwhile, she will summon the black ground on the other side, creating a red wave. All Blood Puddles will shoot skulls that chase us, and shoot us when touched. At the end of the mechanic, Lilith will pull us to her side and perform a large AOE on us.
But it’s not hard to dodge these attacks. First, we need to head towards the platform that is about to be destroyed. If you need to dodge Skulls, use Evade, then move to the other side and exit. We can usually avoid red waves this way. Then continue running along the edge, using Evade to get away from the Skulls. When we were about to be pulled to the center, Teleport went out to avoid the large AOE circle.
There are two additional considerations here. First, Children of Lilith will spawn. You need to take them down quickly or they will spawn those disposable Skulls later in the battle. Second, after Lilith completes the large-scale AOE circle, another Blood Puddle will appear. We can move closer to the existing Blood Puddles to replace it.
Uber Lilith is a very challenging boss. Even with tips and tricks, defeating Uber Lilith in Diablo 4 Season 2 still requires a lot of practice. Finally, I hope you had fun practicing the battles and ended up defeating Lilith easily with your favorite build. See you next time!
