I used blue-based brown dye from the ends up to about halfway on each braid, leaving the roots and a few inches near the scalp untreated for a dimensional ombre effect. After the dye was processed, I applied a darker brown-black rinse to the root section of each braid to match my natural hair’s base color. Though it wasn’t perfect, the color variations diversified the wig’s initially uniform black shade and made for a more convincing replica of my multidimensional, color-melted natural locks.
In the end, I was able to transform my ill-fitting knotless braids wig into a convincing match for my own hair. Customizing a premade braided wig takes some patience and creativity, but it’s worth it.
