On the day of his death, his fortune was valued at $25 million which he had primarily acquired from his commercially and critically successful music career. Additionally, his acting career in several movies had also provided him with a substantial salary. Moreover, he used to earn a huge sum of income through performing in events, tours, and concerts.
In 1965, he relocated to Mexico City to pursue a career in music. His earliest attempts to work with record labels were fruitless. He received his first record proposals in April 1966. His first recording deal was with CBS México, where he released albums including “Soy de Abajo”, “Ni en Defensa Propia”, and “Palabra de Rey”.
José Alfredo Jiménez who is one of the great ranchera legends died in 1973, and hence Vincente became a reference point in the music industry. His next album, La Voz Que estabas Esperando, sold millions of copies, as did his subsequent albums, El Rey, El Hijo del Pueblo, and para recordar.
Based on the sales of this recording, his name was rocketed throughout the country and the American continent in 1976 with the song Volver Volver. That song was covered by almost twenty different vocalists. In 1987, he went to Bolivia and Colombia on his first tour outside of the United States and Mexico.

His album, Prime Fila was certified double platinum in Mexico, platinum in Central America, platinum in Colombia, and double platinum plus gold in the United States when it was released in 2008. Billboard ranked the album number one for seven weeks in a row.
Surprisingly, he revealed his plan to retire from the stage in a press conference on February 8, 2012, but he clarified that he would continue to record albums and that it was not due to health problems, but rather because it was time to enjoy his work.

On December 27, 1963, he married Mara del Refugio Abarca “Cuquita”, the sister of a close friend he met in his hometown. Vicente Jr., Gerardo, and Alejandro were born of the marriage, and a fourth daughter, Alejandra, was adopted who was his niece. They had 11 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren from their children. Several people accused him of being unfaithful throughout his life, which he always denied.
He performed on stage with his sons Alejandro and Vicente Jr, both vocalists, on various occasions. In 2019, he last performed on stage, singing with his son Alejandro and promoting the musical career of one of his grandkids, Alex.
On August 6, 2021, he was hospitalized in severe condition after falling at his ranch near Guadalajara. He was diagnosed with Guillain–Barré syndrome two weeks later and began treatment. He was discharged from intensive care on October 26, 2021, after his clinical condition improved. He was hospitalized to intensive care again on November 30, 2021, due to a health problem induced by pneumonia. At the age of 81, he died of complications from his injuries on December 12, 2021.

He was born on February 17, 1940, in Huentitán El Alto, Jalisco, to a rancher father and a housewife mother. He had a passion for music and was given a guitar at the age of eight, which he learned to play while studying folk music.
After finishing elementary school, he and his family went to Tijuana, where he worked as a bricklayer, painter, and cabinetmaker, as his family struggled to make ends meet by selling milk from the cows on his family’s property. Because he sang during the day, numerous construction companies wanted to hire him as a worker.
He began singing in restaurants and at weddings at the age of 14, eventually joining many mariachi groups. It was then that he began to be recognized in Jalisco after appearing on the radio program Amanecer Tapatio.
