He was born on April 8, 1990, on McMillan Street, a low-income and limited neighborhood on Memphis’ southside. He was raised by his grandparents, as were his younger brothers. Even though both of his grandparents worked, they had very little money and struggled to feed their families.
When he was just seven years old, his grandfather got him a job at a local grocery shop, but he was dismissed after the manager saw him sending fake orders to the business to take the food home for him and his brothers. He began selling narcotics after losing his employment at the business and spent time in prison for drug and weapons crimes. He began pursuing a career in music shortly after releasing from jail.
